Electrical Safety

Our Public Safety awareness campaign targets the general public, contractors, do-it yourselfers and operators of large equipment. Each year, dump trucks, delivery trucks, boom trucks, loaders, hoes, cranes and drills account for at least one third of the electrical contacts with Hydro One overhead electrical wires. Over the four-year period 1998-2001, they accounted for 57 per cent of all public electrical contact incidents involving our power lines, and 21 per cent of electrical contact fatalities. The Hydro One Networks' Public Safety campaign was developed to also address other power line safety themes.
