Electricity Updates

Hydro One Networks is committed to providing you with the most up-to-date information on the electricity industry. Changes in legislation and technology affect how electricity is generated and transmitted, as well as how much electricity costs.

Electricity PricesThe Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has announced the prices for electricity remain unchanged for the 2008 summer season (May 1st to October 31st). As part of their Regulated Price Plan, the OEB reviews and may adjust electricity prices every six months.

For residential, seasonal and most farm customers, the price of electricity remains at 5.0 cents per kWh up to 600 kWh/month and 5.9 cents per kWh for any additional usage. Learn more.

Seasonal Price Threshold On May 1, 2008, the OEB’s Regulated Price Plan (RPP) switches to summer mode. You'll notice the threshold for lower-priced electricity decreases to 600 kWh per month from 1,000 kWh per month for residential and most farm customers. The lower threshold recognizes that customers use less electricity for lighting and indoor heating in the summer season.
