Energy Efficiency Tips & Tools

Make the most of your appliances

Today, appliances account for approximately 15% of average household electricity consumption. However, in seasonal homes, appliances generally account for an even higher percentage of the overall total. Over the years, we've turned to time-saving electrical appliances to give us the extra hours for the things we really want to do.

Appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers play a big part. Other appliances such as VCRs, food processors, bread baking machines, and pasta makers allow us to enjoy activities that would otherwise not fit into our schedules.

By using these appliances and spending longer hours at home, it is more important than ever to manage the electricity we consume.

If you're planning an appliance purchase in the near future, go to Buying Appliances. To see how important it is to buy an energy efficient appliance, go to Reading EnerGuide.
