NEW FOR 2008!
Hydro One's Customer Impact Assessment (CIA) application form for transmission-connected generation facilities has been combined with the IESO's System Impact Assessment (SIA) application form for generation facilities.

Electricity Updates

Hydro One connects generating facilities to the transmission and distribution network, delivering the electricity they produce at hydroelectric, coal, natural gas, wind and nuclear facilities to businesses and people across Ontario. We work with our customers to plan for the future and make sure facilities are in place to deliver electricity where it needs to be.

Hydro One's Net Metering program offers residential, farm, and business customers the opportunity to lower their electricity bills by using environmentally sound Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs). Net Metering is open to most of our electricity customers who want to install a Renewable Energy Technology generating system at their site. These technologies include solar electric panels (photovoltaic or PV), small wind turbines, biomass and other approved installations.

Hydro One is committed to working with prospective generators on the provincial government's Request for Proposal (RFP) process for renewable generation. We're also working with the Ontario Government to develop incentives and expedited processes to connect new power generation technologies like solar, wind, small hydro and biomass energy to the provincial grid.

Allows customers to better manage the renewable power they generate and use by connecting generators less than 500 kW to Hydro One's electricity grid.
