Hydro One connects new sources of electricity to Ontario's grid. Working together with generation customers, we connect their facilities to Ontario's electricity system and transport their electricity to the market. Hydro One is committed to providing timely connections for new generators. Key factors to consider in the connection of generation facilities:
Queue Process for Generators Connecting to Hydro One Networks Hydro One Networks has developed a new queuing process for generators
connecting to Hydro One Network's distribution system. A queue position
constitutes distribution capacity allocation. Given the potential for
increased distributed generation developments in Ontario, it is important
that distribution system capacity be made available to projects which
are likely to proceed to go in-service. The new queuing process facilitates
equitable and efficient connections. A process for moving generators from
the old queue to the new queue has also been developed. Learn more about
the Queue
Process for Generation Projects. Ontario Electricity Request for Proposals (RFPs)
Pre-Bid Process: Working with You To start the Pre-Bid
process, proponents need to work with Hydro One for a Preliminary
Connection Assessment. Hydro One has developed a fast-track process
that provides preliminary assessments to proponents wishing to submit
a bid. In trying to meet the increased demand for assessments in the limited
time period, it is imperative that ALL required data be submitted
and that only one connection option be included per project or bid. Approvals and Regulations External to Hydro One Connecting your generation project to our transmission or distribution system requires approvals and following rules and codes from various bodies and regulators that govern the electricity business in Ontario. Would you like to know more about Hydro One's generation connection process? Still have questions? If you are planning to install a generator that employs a renewable technology and is less than 500 kW, please consider our Net Metering program. All residential and solar panel installations would benefit from this program, as would small wind turbines. Please visit our Net Metering section or call 1-877-447-4412 for information.
