Hydro One’s DOUBLE RETURN program

Hydro One is introducing a conservation incentive program for Transmission Industrial customers to help better manage electricity costs and earn CASH. The Double Return energy conservation program rewards customers who reduce summer and winter peak electricity load, reducing the strain on Ontario’s electricity system.

The program is planned to run for two 3-month periods -- July to September 2008 and January to March 2009. If your business can reduce your average peak electricity demand during those periods by a minimum of 5%, Hydro One will return a cash reward double the customer's savings up to 10% in Transmission charges.

Realizing the short lead time you have for making changes in your business, the Double Return program is designed to help you implement effective, short-term measures to reduce your peak demand i.e. by reducing usage of non-critical equipment, reduced HVAC, redundant compressed air and processes usage and by increasing your on site generation.

As a Transmission Industrial customer you are automatically enrolled unless you are already participating in an Ontario Power Authority Demand Response programs. For every $1.00 you save in transmission charges by reducing your peak electricity usage from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on business days, Hydro One will pay you an additional $2.00.
