New Projects Transmission System Projects Toyota Interconnection The Project The line and station are required to connect the new plant to the province's electricity grid. This project is subject to provincial Environmental Assessment Act approval in accordance with the Class Environmental Assessment for Minor Transmission Facilities. Hydro One has selected a preferred route for the new transmission line and transformer station which will connect the new Toyota Plant in Woodstock to the provincial electricity grid.
The preferred route will connect to an existing hydro corridor which runs in an east-west direction along Towerline Road. The new route will travel north towards the CN Railway track on the east side of Highway 401 before crossing over and continuing in a north-west direction into the Toyota Plant property (see map below).
Initially one circuit will be strung on the new transmission line. The facilities will include a footprint for a second transformer and an additional single circuit 115 kV line to be added at a later date, to support future plant operations. The study area for the proposed transmission line and transformer station included the areas of the City of Woodstock and Norwich Township, in Oxford County, and four alternative routes were evaluated for the proposed line.
Provincial and municipal government agencies and the local communities were consulted and their comments have been incorporated into the environmental assessment process. Environmental Approval Process Following a consultation process with members of the public, government agencies and municipalities, a draft Environmental Study Report (ESR) is made available for stakeholder review and comment for a 30-day period. If there are no concerns expressed during the 30-day review period, the project is considered to be acceptable. The final ESR is filed with the Ministry of the Environment and approval is granted. In the event there are concerns expressed prior or during the 30-day
review period, Hydro One will attempt to resolve the remaining concerns
to complete the EA process. If Hydro One cannot satisfy all of the concerns,
a bump-up may be requested by a stakeholder. Hydro One will then consider
whether a re-designation of the project is appropriate, and send their
response, the draft ESR and the bump-up request to the Ministry of the
Environment for a decision as to whether or not the project requires an
Individual EA or if the project should be approved as proposed. Public Information Centres
