New Projects Transmission System Projects Beach Transformer Station (TS) to Beamsville TS - Transmission Line Upgrade Project
The Project Hydro One Networks is proposing to upgrade its 115 kV high voltage transmission line running between Beach TS in Hamilton and Beamsville TS in the Town of Lincoln. This upgrade will improve the reliability of the power supply to the region. Over the past five years, Hydro One has invested about $4.5 billion in capital projects and maintenance to sustain and upgrade its high-voltage transmission and low-voltage distribution systems throughout the province.
This project will involve increasing the transmission capacity by installing new conductor along approximately 27 km of transmission line. All 108 lattice tower structures will be reinforced to support the new conductor and modified to maintain adequate ground to conductor clearance.
The structure upgrade will involve removing the lower t-arm and replacing the middle t-arm with a wider arm designed to carry four conductors. In addition, approximately 25 towers will receive a 5, 10 or 15 extension to make the tower higher to ensure proper clearances exist around the larger conductor. Footings at some tower locations will also be reinforced. Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2006 and will be completed by May 2007. Beamsville TS x Beach TS - Circuit Q5H
