The
transmission system is Ontario's electricity highway. Through it, we send vast
amounts of electricity from generating facilities such as hydroelectric, nuclear
and coal-fired plants over long distances to the electricity distribution companies
who deliver it to Ontario homes and businesses.
Hydro One works with our
customers and communities to deliver a reliable supply of electricity and to ensure
that our transmission system has sufficient capacity. We examine the system
and plan for system needs and solutions to meet those needs. Hydro One has prepared
a transmission status report called Directions
(PDF 5.0 MB), as well as an overview
(PDF 4.0 MB) of transmission solutions planned for the next 10 years. Transmission
Solutions (PDF 12.2 MB), is a "living" plan for the province
of Ontario. This plan will evolve as Ontario's electricity sector evolves, and
in response to input from key stakeholders. While every project is unique,
there are similarities in the planning
process for new transmission system projects. Current
